Abstract

This study firstly conducted to find out the relationship between feeding practices and growth parameters as well as blood values of infants up to 2 years. Second to find out the relation between infant hemoglobin and maternal hemoglobin. Third assessment of nutritional anemia among infants through blood values. Across section study is carried out on 100 full term infants without congenital anomalies or physical illness. The sample selected from out patient clinic in Menoufiya University and from Maternal and child Health Centers in Shibin El-Kom The simple is classified according to the type of feeding practices into (30) breast fed, (30) artificial fed (25) mixed fed (Breast + bottle) and (15) weaned infants. An interview questionnaire schedule is developed for each child. Anthropometric assessment for weight length, head circumference and mid-arm circumference are measured and plotted into (N.C.H.S) reference standard. A specimen of capillary blood for the mother, and infants less than one year are taken to measure hemoglobin values by hemocytometer set. And venous puncture specimen infants more than one year for complete blood picture for those infants.
