Abstract T he microbial flora in the vagina are more numerous and diverse. The vagina has been increasingly recognized as a natural ecosystem whose normal microflora helps its protection against invading pathogens which may cause urinary tract infection and sexually transmitted disease. Vaginal microbiota forms the main vaginal defense mechanism, specially a strain of gram positive anaerobic bacilli Doderline’s bacilli (Lactobacilli) have been thought to be the predominant members of normal postpubertal vaginal microbiota since the first microbiologyical study of human vagina 100 years ago. |
