المستخلص Back ground and objectives: GIK is a solution used to support the myocardial during ischemic periods. This work is studying the effect of GIK solution on early outcome in diabetic and non-diabetic patients who have CABG. Methods: 90 patients have (CABG) enrolled in this non-randomized prospective study divided into 3 groups: Group I: No GIK, Non-Diabetics. 26 male and 4 female with mean age (52.7 ± 8.1) Group II: Non-Diabetics received GIK 28 male and 2 female with mean age (53.4 ± 8.9) Group III: Diabetics received GIK 26 male and 4 female with mean age (54.9 ± 6.9). 10 samples taken for measurement of blood glucose and serum potassium before and after cardiopulmonary bypass, Zero, 2, 4, 6, 8, 10, 12 hours from ICU arrival.5 samples taken for assessment of (CPK-MB enzyme), Preoperative, at arrival to ICU, 6 hours, 12 hours, 24 hours after arrival to ICU. Incidence of inotropics use, Duration of mechanical ventilation, length of ICU stay, and length of hospital stay are calculated. |
