According to the depression in the percentage of suspended solids and the presence of algae which is difficult to precipitate or to remove in sediminenton tanks, this study completely omits the sedimentation stage and uses direct filtration procedure to face this new quality of the water resource with possible minimum costs. this study applies two types of direct filtration procedure viz direct filtration without any chemical aid, and, direct in-line filtration using polymer as filter aid. the previous types are applied on two types of filter namely, conventional sand filter, and, dual-media (anthracite + sand) filter. the study has proved that using polymer with dual-media filter gives great efficiency for removing of suspended solids, algae and turgidity with appropriate rate of filtration and with 36 hrs. working period which is considered to be one and half the working mod in the conventional filter and also this suits well the circumstances in the present plants which use sedimentation tanks before the filter
