Abstract

The mission of any production facility is to provide excellent products for customers from the view of quality and cost. Maintenance is viewed as one of the very important factors that affect those two missions.
The idea of maintenance is an activity carried out on an asset in order to ensure that the asset continues to perform its intended functions, influencing the entire operation. The product quality and on-time delivery, are the main building brick of any enterprise The production and maintenance schedules would cost a lot whereas good one can cut costs immensely.
One of the important characteristics of good maintenance, is its focus upon choosing maintenance strategy and establishing the best schedule based on reliability, that is required for any physical asset to ensure continues fulfillment of its intended functions in it6 present operating context, this mission is called reliability centered maintenance.
By studying different maintenance strategies beginning from break down maintenance passing through time based maintenance and ending up with condition based maintenance and proactive maintenance, taking condition based maintenance as this thesis maintenance strategy to achieve increasing reliability of a system, since the condition based maintenance and its role in reliability improvement has a very efficient benefit for ensuring an effective reliability centered maintenance.
A key point to implement successfully the reliability centered maintenance outputs, is integrating reliability centered maintenance with scheduling and planning, as many reliability centered maintenance projects fail because they do not successfully complete the required implementation tasks.
