Abstract
Mesotherapy used involves numerous, localized, intradermal or subcutaneous injections containing combinations of vasodilators, anti-inflammatory medications, herbs, hormones, antibiotics, enzymes or co-enzymes. The true mechanism of mesotherapy remains unknown. In the previous decades, mesotherapy has been traditionally used for treatment of musculoskeletal pain, lymphoedema and dental pain. However, nowadays; mesotherapy is primarily indicated for cosmetic procedures such as scarring, alopecia, photoaging, reduction of fat and cellulite, body contouring as well as facial skin rejuvenation. Several side effects accompanying mesotherapy technique and materials have been reported, so mesotherapy has become controversial as it is popular.
