Abstract The major part of the Candidates work deals with the synthesis of 1,2,4-triazolo(4,3-Qjcjuinazolines, 1,2,4- triazolo[1,5-Q]quinazolines, and tetazolo(1,5-cj quinazolines. 11t was relevant, therefore, to devote the introductory chapter (chapter 1) to reivew the synthesis and biological activities of condensed azolo- diazolo-, triazolo-, and tetrazologuinazolines.. In chapter 2, the Candidate discusses the results of his own [work on the synthesis of some (quinazoline-4-yl) pyrazoles as well as condensed 1,2,4-triazolo- and tetrazolo-quinazolines. some unsuccesiful attempts were also made towards the synthesis of 1,2,4-triazino[4,3-cjquinazolines. The student took use of two cyclic imidoyl chlorides namely 4-chloro-2-methylquinazoline (Ia) and 4-chloro-2-phenylquiniazoline (ib) as well as the two Icorresponding cyclic amidrazones: 4-hydrazino-2-mehtyl- quinazoline(2a) and 4-hydrazino-2-phenylquinazoiine(2b) as starting materials for the synthesis of these compounds. CI a,RMe (i) (2’) Two synthetic approaches were used for the preparation of the pyrazole derivatives described in this thesis: I. Reaction of the cyclic amidrazones (2) with acetylacetone to give hydrazone (3) followed by cyclization to the pyrazole (4) HN. NH2 . |
