Abstract HIP replacement procedure has a major impact on the patients life style so those patients are in the serious need for giving information and pre-operative education. The purpose of this study was to assess the effect of providing preparatory pre-operative information for patients undergoing hip replacement surgery on pre-operative physical coping outcomes including : (1) Need for pre-operative analgesia, (2) pre-operative mobility status, (3) Incidence of pre-operative complications, (4) length of hospital stay and (5) Personal perception of ability for pre-operative coping. The purpose of this study that , the patient who receive preparatory pre-operative information will have a significant positive effects on pre-operative physical outcomes and the patient self-perceived post-operative coping .Data pertinent to the study was collected over a period of six months in the orthopaedic department of both Minufiya university hospital and mansoura university hospital. The following tools were utilized for data collection : (a) Demographic Data Sheet , (b) physical Indicators of post-operative coping Questionnaire, (c) Linear Analogue Coping Scale. Data were analyzed by a personal computer . A probability of 0.5 was adopted as the level of significance for achieving the stated research hypothesis . T test and Chi-square were used for testing the significant difference between two groups. |
