Abstract

Hepatitis E virus (HEV) is non-enveloped, single-stranded, positivesense RNA molecule with icosahedral symmetty of an approximately 7.2 kb length with a poly (A) tail. The virus is capped and polyadeylated and is now accepted as an emerging pathogen belonging to the genus Hepevirus in the Hepeviridae family.Hepatitis E virus has only one serotype and at least 4 major genotypes of HEV have been reported worldwide. These genotypes are subdivided into a total of 24 subtypes which are designated alphabetically was gIven. •
