المستخلص

Chronic diarrhea in pediatric patients poses major challenges in diagnosis and management therefore understanding of the underlying possible etiologies may lead to improved outcome. It is known for pediatric immunologists that many children with primary cellular immunodeficiency have chronic diarrhea and failure to thrive.
The aim of this study is to evaluate CD3, CD4 and CD8 lymphocyte markers in children with chronic diarrhea in order to highlight the role of cell-mediated immune deficiency in the development of such symptom and to compare the results in age and sex matched healthy children.
This study was conducted on 50 children; 30 children with chronic diarrhea were enrolled as patients group and 20 apparently healthy age and sex-matched children were enrolled as control.
