Abstract Psoriasis is a common, genetically determined, inflammatory and proliferative disease of the skin. Its etiology is not fully delineated. The disease is variable in duration. The main pathological changes are an accelerated turnover of the epidermal cells, abnormal keratinocyte differentiation and hyperproliferation. Extent and morphological variants are common (Ortonne, 1996). Ki-67 is a monoclonal antibody described in 1983 by Gredes et al., which detects a nuclear Ag expressed only in proliferating cells, therefore, it has been employed as an operational marker of cellular proliferation. |
