Abstract

This study was carried out at Sides Agriculture Research Station, Beni Suef Governorate, Middle Egypt, in 1996 and 1997 seasons, to investigate the effect of irrigation intervals and Mg – fertilization treatments on growth, yield, yield components, chemical properties of leaves, stem and seeds, and plant and soil water relationships for sunflower ( Helianthus annuus L.), G 101.
Irrigation intervals was applied at three durations ( i.e. 7, 14 or 21 days ) after the second irrigation. While, Mg – fertilization was used at seven levels ( i.e. untreated control, 7.5 or 15 kg magnesium sulphate / fed, in one portion as soil application, also, 0.5 % or 1.0 % magnesium sulphate as foliar application in one portion through 145.5 l. / fed. at 20 day age, moreover two other foliar treatments 0.5 % or 1.0 % magnesium sulphate through 291 l. / fed. at 35 day age in one portion ).
The lay out of the experiments was in a split plots design in four replicates; whereas, the main plots represent irrigation intervals and the split plots represent magnesium treatments.
