Abstract

Fibronectin is a higher molecular weight glycoprotein found both in a soluble form in extra¬cellular fluids and an insoluble form in connective tissue, blood vessels wall and basement membranes. it can be synthesized and excreted by hepatocytes as well as non-hepatocytic mesenchymal cells including fibroblasts and vascular endothelial cells.
Acute vital hepatitis is a serious infectious disease of the liver caused by several viruses and characterized by acute inflammation and necrosis of hepatocytes. It is probably the most common cause of liver disease and jaundice in the world.
Infection with hepatitis B virus (HRV) is of particular interest because of the possibility of progression of patient’s condition to chronic liver disease, cirrhosis and hepatocellular carcinoma.
Since most, if not all, soluble FW is produced by hepatcytes, accordingly parenchyma liver disease would be expected to affect FN concentration, increasing or decreasing it, through altering its synthesis, catabolism and/or consumption.
