Abstract The present work is concerned with the development of an electrochemical reactor, of high space time yield suitable for removing heavy metal ions from industrial waste solution. Towards this end the mass transfer behavior of different electrode geometries were studied under different hydrodynamic conditions by measuring the limiting current of copper deposition from acidified CUSO4 Solution.Rates of mass transfer were measured for vertical flat plate, a fixed bed of Raschig or cylinders with the vertical plate acting as a current feeder under (i)natural ion, (ii) single phase flow (iii) gas sparging , (iv) two phase flow. |
