Abstract

A new structural concept – Double-Deck cable Stayed Bridge- can be used to solve the problem of heavy traffic, while the number of pylons can not be increased due to the lack of ground spots needed to construct the pylons. Also, the Double Deck Cable Stayed Bridge is an economic solution if the construction of piers is a major cost factor . The pylon will support more than one deck.
The Double-Deck Cable Stayed Bridge using load Transfer Cells (LTC) will be presented in this research taking into consideration the requirments of design and construction. This thesis gives a historical review for many of the past constructed cable stayd bridges in some details, followed by description of cable stayed bridge components. The basic srtuctral requirements for cable stayed bridges have been depicted. Verification of results has been done for a Cable Stayed Bridge for both static and model analyses using two finite element softwares, those are STAAD PRO 2004 and STRAUS7. Intial shape of the Cable Stayed Bridge has been found by iterations using the STAAD PRO 2004 software.
