Abstract Our aim of this study was to evaluate the efficiency of measurement of carotid intima-media thickness in evaluating atherosclerosis in pediatric patients with ESRD who are on regular HD treatment and those on conservative therapy. This study was conducted on 45 patients with ESRD. The patients were divided into 2 groups. Group I, which represented patients with ESRD on regular HD therapy. This group was sub-divided into subgroup Ia (15 normotensives) and subgroup Ib (15 hypertensives). As regard to group II, it represented patients with chronic renal failure on conservative therapy. This group was sub-divided into subgroup IIa (8 normotensives) and subgroup IIb (7 hypertensives). |
