Abstract In an attempt t o unde~stand t h e o r i g i n , mode of formation, genesis and degree of development of s o i l s i n the north d i s t r i c t of Nile-Delta, a physical, chemical and mineralogical study has been carried out on soils of KaPr- El-Sheikh governorate The area investigated includes 11 p r o f i l e s and a sample rep~esenting the bottom of Burullus Lake. Morpholog i c a l descriptions are given on the s o i l p r o f i l e s including l o c a t i o n , drainage, t e x t u r e , s t r u c t u r e and colow, The main s o i l type i n the region is a dark greyish brown clayey one. Laboratory determinations include mechanical and chemical analyses of the s o i l s , pH values, heavy residue acalysis of sand separates, C.3-C,, surface area of clay f r a c t i o n ( 4 2 ,u) and determination of amorphous material. |
