Abstract

Duck industry in Egypt and other countries in the world is exposed to many conditions affecting growth rates and production particularly bacterial causes. So this work aimed to study some disease conditions in duck specially those causing nervous manifestations and we applied experimental trials to prevent or control such conditions.
A total of 286 random samples were collected from different localities in Sharkia governorate either in moribund state or freshly dead and the examined samples yielded 217 positive bacterial isolates from different organs (75.9%) (Pasteurella 23.42 %, Riemerella 16.08 % and Salmonella 14.33 %) while the incidence of mixed infection of Salmonella and Pasteurella was (15.73%), Salmonella and Riemerella was (2.79%) , while Pasteurella and Riemerella was (3.49%). The isolated Pasteurella spp. were identified into P. multocida (44.27%), P. haemolytica (36.95%) and P. gallinarum (19.08%) while identification of Salmonella isolates revealed that S. enteritidis is the highest (43.61%) , S. typhimurium (29.79%) and S. gallinarum (26.60%).
The prevalence of bacterial isolates in the different internal organs of the examined ducks revealed that percentage of Salmonella isolates was (31.9%); (21.3%); (18.1%); (12.8%); (7.4%) and ( 8.5% ) in intestine, liver, lung , spleen, brain and heart blood , respectively but in case of Pasteurella the percentage was (34.4%, 28.3%, 16.8%, 9.2%, 7.6% and 3.8%) in heart blood, liver, spleen, intestine, lung and brain respectively. While in case Riemerella the percentage was (37.5%, 23.4%, 15.6%, 6.3%, 9.4%) and 7.8%) in heart blood, liver, spleen, intestine, lung and brain respectively
