Abstract In chapter ( I ) an introduction is given which deals with the following fields of interest : corrosion of steel in sea water, factors affecting the corrosion rate in sea water, inhibition of steel corrosion in sea water, types of inhibitors for steel in sea water, influence of temperature on the action of inhibitors, adsorption isotherms, the Knetic-thermodynamic model of corrosion inhibition, literature survey of inhibition of steel corrosion, and aim of the work. Chapter ( II ): Deals with the experimental techniques used were: (1) Potentiodynamic Polarization Measurements Potentiodynamic technique was used to record the polarization curves of steel in three different types of the produced water attached with Western desert, Marine Belayim and Geicuim crude oil in absence and presence of different concentrations of the inhibitors S-methyl isothiouronium iodide (I), S-ethyl Ifeothiouronium iodide (II), S-n-propyl isothiouronium iodide (III), S-^•-butyl isothiouronium iodide (IV), S-n-pentyl isothiouronium iodide (V), S-n-hexyl isothiouromium iodide (VI), S-n-heptyl isothiouronium iodide (VII), S-n-octyl isothiouronium iodide (VIII), and S-n-octyl isothiouronium bromide (IX) at different temperatures ranging from 25 - 60 °C. The polarization curves were recorded over a wide range of electrode potentials by using Wenking Potentiostat Mod. MP 87. The potential |
