Abstract Asthma is a chronic inflammatory disorder of the airways in which many cells and cellular elements play a role. (GINA 2006). The anaphylatoxin C5a is a classic, potent inflammatory mediator, with biological activities that have been implicated in a variety of inflammatory diseases. (Sumichika., 2004) This work aimed to evaluate the level of C5a in plasma of children with chronic asthma and to correlate its level with clinical severity of the disease and pulmonary function tests. Thirty asthmatic children were studied during their attendance in the Out patient Chest Clinic ,Ain Shams University ,Pediatric Hospital, for follow up .Their ages ranged from 6-15 years with mean value of 9.03+2.6 years. Age and sex Seventeen normal children were selected as healthy controls . |
