Abstract Non-steroidal antiinflammatory drugs (WSAIDs) are commonly prescribed in clinical practice. They are an integral part of therapy in rheumatic disorders. Numerous NSAlDs have been developed and a large number were under trials to give maximum anti inf lanamatory effects with low toxicity. Gastroduodenal mucosa carries the main brunt of NSAlD-associated side effects, NSAIDs can induce various degrees of gastroduodenal lesions including inflammations, hemorrhages, erosions and ulcers. Some investigators reported an extremely poor correlation between the endoscopic gastroduod^nal Eindings and the subjective symptomatology - Accordingly, the aim of the present study was to study the incidence of gagtroduodenal lesions in asymptomatic persons on chronic NSAIDs, This study was carried out on fourty asymptQinatac patients taking NSAIDs for 3 months or rnore, a.e wel 1 as twenty control subjects. |
