Abstract

The present study displayed the incidence of A. galli infection among Balady chickens including growers and adults in Beni-Suef Governorate, as well as some factors affecting their survival, such as seasonal variations and age susceptibility were studied. The major aim of this work is the serological diagnosis of the infection with A. galli in experimentally infected balady chicken using ELISA and Immuno - Blot.
Out of 360 examined Balady chickens (21.66 %) were found to harbour A. galli worms.
The seasonal pattern of infection showed the highest incidence (35.55%) during spring and the the lowest (11.11%) occurred during summer. The incidence of A. galli recorded prevalence of; (23.33 %) and (16.66 %) during Winter and Autumn respectively.
The monthly highest incidenc of A. galli (50 %) was recorded in April, while the lowest (10 %) was recorded in August
Ascaridia galli considered as predominent parasite (25.55%) in adult chickens with the highest incidence (42.22%) during Spring, while the lowest (11.11 %) occurred in Summer. The prevalence amonng adults was (26.66%) & (22.22%) during Winter and Autumn respectively. The results revealed the highest monthly rate of infection with A. galli among adult chickens (53.33 %) was recorded in April, while the lowest rate (6.66%) occurred in July and August.
Belonging grower chickens (3 – 6 months) the results revealed that the general rate of A. galli infection among growers was (17.77 %). The highest rate of infection was recorded during Spring (26.66 %), while the lowest rate (11.11 %) occurred in Summer. Autumn and Winter showed (17.17%) and (15.45%) prevalence respectively.
The highest infection rate with A.galli among growers (33.33%) occurred in April, while the lowest (6.66%) was recorded in August.
