Abstract In this study. 222 patients (149 males and 73 females with a mean age of 35 years), suffering from renal and ureteral stone disease were treated by extracorporeal shock wave lithotripsy (ESWL) using the Dornier U/30 lithotriptor. One hundred and seventy eight patients had primary stones while 44 patients had recurrent stones. One hundred and sixty one patients had renal stones while 6 1 patients had ureteral stones. In the first 40 cases during this study. a combination of ketamine and midazolam was used for anesthesia and sedation while for the rest of the cases, a combination of propofol and midazolam was used. |
