Abstract Gastric carcinoma is one of the most common cancer allover the world. Adenocarcinoma presents about 95% of all gastric carcinoma. Although there are many modalities for gastric examination, some cases couldn’t be discovered without CT help. Computed tomography (CT) has proved to be a valuable adjunct to barium studies and endoscopy. CT clearly demonstrates the primary lesion and shows extension of the disease to adjacent or distant structures. One of the recent generation of CT is helical CT, which help in staging of gastric carcinoma. Helical CT has many advantages, it allows faster scanning, less motion artifacts and optimal use of intravenous contrast enhancement. However, Helical CT has some limitation, as small lesion may be missed and it cannot distinguish metastatic from inflammatory lymph nodes, it still one of economic diagnostic methods. |
