Abstract
Leptin is a cytokine that regulate energy metabolism and is linked to diabetes mellitus through its metabolic action.
The aim of this study is to investigate the possible relationship between serum Leptin level and GDM risk and correlation of plasma leptin with insulin resistance.
The study was conducted on 60 women they were further divided into:
Group I: 20 women with GDM .
Group II: 20 women pregnant without diabetes
Group III: 20 women control group (non pregnant non
diabetes).
All women were subjected to full clinical history and tharough physical examination especially weight, hight, BMI and BP.
Venous blood samples were taken for all subject and analysed for serum leptin level, FBS, fasting insulin and Insulin resistance by HOMA-IR was calculated.
