Abstract

A total of 466 cases suffering mixed infection of necrotic enteritis with coccidiosis. Freshly dead and sacrificed broiler chickens aged 2-7 weeks old. Collected from Sharkia Province. Collected samples (intestinal lesions and coccidial infection lesions) examined bacteriologically for possible recovery of clostridium and parasitological examination according to morphological characters and biochemical reactions, 289 clostridium isolates were successfully isolated. No of typed clostridium perfringens type A 180 with incidence 62.28% and the untyped isolates 109 with incidence 37.71%.
Experimental infection of chickens at 10 days old with Cl. perfringens type A and E. tenella sporulated oocysts was carried out.
The following results were obtained:
1- Clostridial isolates were revealed from 180 (62.28%) necrotic enteritis suspected cases.
2- Winter season record the higher incidence of the disease by (34.52%).
3- At age 3:4 weeks old mixed infection with Cl. perfringens and E. tenella recorded the highest rate 84.37%.
4- The isolated clostridial spp. were identified as Cl. perfringens type A 26.52% and mixed infection 37.40%.
5- The isolated Cl. perfringens, the toxigenic type (A) were 62.28% while non toxigenic 37.71%.
6- The experimental infected birds with mixed infection show high rate of mortality upto 60.00%.
7- The isolated Cl. perfringens type A were highly susceptible to amoxicillin, ampicillin and flumequin.
8- Group which received anticoccidial medication showing recovery from the mixed infection by 60% when compared with non medicated group.
9- The groups which use probiotic (growth promoters) appear low mortality rate about 40% with compared non medicated group.
10- Immunoglobulin concentration in sera of broiler chickens infected with Cl. perfringens and E. tenella and treated group show different ratio, and this group showing increase in total protein and albumin ratio and high percentage ratio in gamma globulin.
While in the same group (non treated) showing decrease in total protein percentage and high albumin percentage and decrease in gamma globulin percentage as shown in
Table (12).
