Abstract Purpose: This work aims at evaluating the efficacy of iris fluorescein angiography in diagnosis of different iris lesions. Patients & methods: A prospective study was conducted on 53 eyes of 42 patients with different iris lesions. A fundus camera was focused on the iris and 5 ml of 10% sodium fluorescein was given intravenously. Results: Angiographic findings have been analyzed. Iris fluorescein angiography allowed easy detection even of initial rubeosis. In uveitis, it was useful to detect mild inflammation not visible by biomicroscopy. An irregular disorganized vascular network, intense leakage of the dye and staining of a tumor were found to be more or less suggestive of malignancy. Conclusion: Iris fluorescein angiography can retrieve information that may otherwise be missed on routine clinical examination. |
