Abstract
One of the most important and vital services which should be offered by the health authorities in the country is the emergency health services both surgical and medical.
’Eockwood et al. (1976) emphasized the fact that,the greatest threat is the inability to obtain adequate emergency medical care at the time of need, when knowledge, skill and minutes can save lives.
In accordance with the view of American Hospital Asso¬ciation (1972), Renner (1974) defined the emergency care system as ”A community or regional network of services that provide for detection and reporting of medical emergencies, initial care at the scene, transportation and care enroute to a medical facility and care of the patient until he is discharged, referred or admitted for definitive medical care”.

Emergency surgical service is the most important and vital service which any general hospital must provide to the population it serves. It is either for trauma or for acute illness. Care for the injured and the need to improve the accident service is of paramount importance.
