Abstract
OXYGEN THERAPY is considered one of the recent methods of complementary medicine accepted worldwide, it includes hyperbaric oxygen therapy and ozone therapy.
This type of therapy has sparked an uproar in Egyptian media after the minister of health issued a decision to ban ozone therapy at the beginning of the year without clarifying the nature of such therapy which developed a misunderstanding among lay persons and even medical personnel about the difference between ozone therapy and HBOT considering them as a one type of oxygen therapy.
This assay is a trial to clarify the nature of HBOT and ozone therapy, identifying the difference between them including the historical background, stages of development and the main indications in medicine in general with high lightening on the most accepted indications worldwide, the uses in otolaryngology-head &neck surgery with focusing on the recent papers with and against each indication. It discusses the contraindications, complications of each type with a brief note on ozone therapy world wide and in Egypt.
