Abstract Pregnancy is the most important physiological process occurring among women in her child bearing period. It affects different body structures and functions, by its hormonal alternation and to a less extent anatomical alternations that affect near by structures and organs to the female genital tract most important is the uterine changes. Both systems, the lower urinary tract and female genital tract have the same embryonic origin. Both systems are developed largely from the urogenital ridge. As the lower urinary has close anatomical relation to the female genital tract. So morphological changes of genital tract during pregnancy result in morphological changes on the lower urinary tract. At the same time hormonal changes accompanying pregnancy result in morphological and functional changes in the lower urinary tract, as structures are more or less same in both system and estrogen and progesterone receptors was documented in the lower urinary tract. Intact anatomy of the lower urinary tract together with maintaince of the centers and pathways control is needed for proper continence mechanism. The anatomical structure grouped into two different systems. One deal with normal support of the lower urinary tract and other has to deal with urethral closure or constriction . |
