Abstract
Computed Tomography has become accepted as the key modality in orbital radiography where sufficient data are provided for accurate detection and significantly enhanced diagnosis of orbital lesions much more certainly than before. In recent years, the growing applications of CT and MRI evaluation of the orbit have dramatically increased the role of imaging in assessing ophthalmologic problems with critical impact on diagnosis and treatment of orbital disorders, whereas previous modalities were limited to the bony orbital structures. The orbit with its small structures and motion of some of its contents (globe, nerve, and muscles) possess a particular challenge, so that a significant amount of technologic advancement was necessary before high quality images could be obtained. In this study, we attempted to demonstrate the role of CT in diagnostic pattern of orbital lesions in patients with unilateral exophthalmos.
