Abstract There were many studies that took place on the effect of the antihypertensive drugs included in the two famous groups angiotensin converting enzyme inhibitors and beta blockers in the controlling of the the blood pressure and the heart case of patients. In our study we took in cosideration the effect of these two large groups exampled in two of their members; captopril as an angiotensin converting enzyme inhibitor and atenolol as a beta blocker on carbohydrate metabolism, and so revealing the effect of them on patients with both hypertension and diabetes mellitus. In our study, a total of 52 male rats , 150 ± 20 gm were used. The rats under study were accomodated at the animal house in faculty of vetrenary medicine, Zagazig university before the experiment and kept on basal diet. |
