Abstract

The present investigation was carried out on total number of 60 suckling cattle calves aged 1-12 weeks were used in this study those animals were reared in governmental farm in Bohera governorat.
The calves were classified into 3 groups according to healthy status and clinical examination.
Group I 20 calves were apparently clinically healthy calves used as control
Group II 20 calves were calves suffering from undifferentiated diarrhea
Group III 20 calves were suffering from bronchopneumonia
Each group was physical and clinical thoroughly examined blood samples were taken from all animal to obtain serum for analysis of blood urea nitrogen , serum creatinine , serum sodium and potassium. Urine sample were collected from each animal by free catch method for physical, chemical (by strips of urinalysis) and microscopical urinalysis and biochemical urinalysis (quantitative urinalysis of urea nitrogen , creatinine , sodium, potassium and urinary GGT).
The obtained results were
1. Serum analysis
 Elevation in blood urea nitrogen , serum creatinine in both diarrheic and pneumonic calves
 Significant hyponatremia and hyperkalemia in both diarrheic and pneumonic groups
2. Urinalysis
 Results in diarrheic group were change in physical characters of urine as urine color become dark yellow , turbid and significant increase in specific gravity, while non significant change in physical characters of urine in pneumonic group.
 Presence of proteinuria in diarrheic and pneumonic groups but glucoseuria was appear in pneumonic group only
 Significant increase in pus and red cells in both diarrheic and pneumonic groups.
 Presence of casts and crystals in both diarrheic and pneumonic groups.
3. Biochemical urinalysis
 Significant decrease in excretion of urea and creatinine , sodium and potassium in diarrheic group while on other side there were significant increase in excretion of those substance in pneumonic group
 Significant increase in urinary Gamma Glutamyl Transferase (GGT) in both groups
4. Urinary indices
 Significant decrease in ratio of Ucr /Scr and Uun / Sun in diarrheic group while non significant decrease in those ratios in pneumonic group
 FE Na fractional excretion of sodium are significantly increase in both groups but not reach to 1 %
 FE K fractional excretion of potassium is non significant decrease in diarrheic group but significant decrease in pneumonic group
 Significant increase in urinary activity of GGT in diarrheic group while non significant increase in pneumonic group
