Abstract

The stomach of Cemelus tlx’oaiedarius cousists of three compartments4 lacking one compartment (omasum), if it is compared with the advanced rurn.iner.t (pecc,’r.).
The rnosa of he third compartment was studied macrocopi .nd micrDscopic anatomically as also histochernially, It was und that this compartment can be divides sccorc1 to the external and inter nal appearance !nto an initial dUated part, a middle lone narrow part and a terminal dilated parts The mueDsa in the first two parts have simple tubular giaic.s which are considered as cardiac glands. The termination of the middle long narrow part connects with the mucosa of the terminal dilated part. This latter one has at its greater curvature thick folds, containing the proper gastric glands (pepsinogen gland) which differ somewhat from those in the pecora, especially in the arrangement of the parietal cells and the behaviour of the chief cells which can store mucous during fastening or diminishing of the food in the camel.
At the lesser curvature of this terminal dilated part the mucosa is foldiess and. contains pyloric
glands, similar to those in the pecora.
