المستخلص This study was conducted on 20 patients (22 feet) with chronic heel pain whose clinical picture was suggestive of entrapment of the first branch of the lateral plantar nerve. The mean age was 41 years (32-52 years). There were 16 females (80%) and 4 males (20%). All females were housewives and the males were two manual workers and two waiters. The right side was affected in 9 patients (45%), the left in 9 patients (45%) and 2 patients has bilateral affection.The duration of symptoms ranged from 6-72 months with a mean of 18,6 months.The site of maximal tenderness was at the infer medial aspect of the heel in all patients, the pain was reproduced by standing on the affected heel, numbness and par aesthesia on the lateral aspect of the sole was present in 6 cases (30%). All patients tried different conservative treatment modalities without longstanding satisfactory result . |
