Abstract the present study also, showed that there were significant increases in the mean values of calcium and I.P. in cord blood of normal newborns and newborns of diabetic mothers as compared to those of their mothers. The results regarding PTH and calcitonin revealed that the normal control newborns as well as newborns of diabetic mothers have low PTH and high calcitonin level in relation to their mothers. This seems to be a consequence of relative fetal hypercalcemia. |
