Abstract

The aim of this research was to detect the histological and histochemical changes that occurred as a result of using of these drugs (Dispercam and Epicotil) for one month and three months on the serous acini of both the exocrine pancreas and the parotid gland. From the results obtained in this study it could be concluded that: * the use NSAIDs (Dispercam and Epicotil) produce histological and histochemical changes in the serous acini of both the exocrine pancreas and the parotid gland. * the changes produced by epicotil (tenoxicam) drug were more marked than that produced by Dispercam ( piroxicam) and this was attributed to the fact that epicotil is more efficient and powerful NSAIDs. * the changes produced was time related as with long period of drug administration (three months) the changes were more than that produced with drug administration for one month. * the effect of NSAIDs on the parotid gland was more than that on the exocrine pancreas. * NSAIDS must be used with great care and only for short period.
