Abstract This work aimed to study the urinary oxalate excretion in diabetic patients and correlate the oxalate levels with some kidney functions, taking into consideration the presence or absence of proteinuria. The results revealed that urinary oxalates excretion did not significantly differ in the controls and diabetics with or without frank proteinuria. There was a significant positive correlation, in the diabetic group with proteinuria, between urinary oxalates and creatinine clearance. Otherwise, there was no significant correlation between urinary oxalates and either glomerular or tubular functions studied in this work. |
