Abstract

This study was performed to determine bacterial and parasitic causes of respiratory affections among dairy animals. This work included 174 animals (dairy animals) at differant ages (67 buffaloes, 25 cattle, 32 camels, 17 sheep and 33 goats)these animals were diseases and showed symptoms of respiratory disorders. Clinical examination was done before slaughter of these animals in several abattoirs in Assiut Province.Group of 30 ani~als apparently healthy was taken as a control group (10 buffaloes, 5 cattle, 5 camels, 5 sheep, 5 goats).Group of 273 animals with symptoms of respiratory disorder was examined for lungworm infestation by faecal examination ac- cording to Baermann’s technique. Group of 44 diseased buffaloe calves in El-Hawatka and BaniSand Dairy Farms were treated according to the results of sen-
sitivity tests, which were done for isolated bacteria from diseased calves. Bacteriological and parasitological examinations were done for the samples from slaughtered group (174 animals), nasal and tracheal swaps and lung samples were taken for bacteriological examination, Post mortum examination for detection of lungworm in the bronchi and bronchioles and for the presence ef hydatid cyst in the lung. Also faecal samples were taken for the parasitclogical examination
for the detection of first larval stages of lungworm.
