Abstract Fenarthritis of the shoulder is a common disorder. The syndrome is important because of its frequent occurrence, its limiting effect on work capacity, its frequent resistance to treatment, and its progression at times to capsulitis resulting in prolonged sereve disability. This work presents a comparison between two conservative methods of treatment in 5O cases of periarthntis of the shoulder, The patients were selected randomly, twenty five patients were treated by manipulation under general anaesthesia, one local injection and active exercises versus twenty five patients treated by three local injections and physiotherapy for three rnounths. The anatomy and biomechanics of the shoulder were presented. The aetiological factors and pathogenesis were fully discussed. The clinical and radiological findings were also discussed. |
