Abstract
posttedate pregnancy is pregnancy extending beyoid 42 week it is associated with a significant increase in perntal morbidityt and mortality rates which is due to either plancesental insufficiency and its consequences including fetal hypoxoia oligohydraminos cord compression and meconium aspiration or fetal macrosomiia and its consequences including birth truma and metabolism abnormalities because there is neither a completely safe and sucsseful method of includtion management of postdate pregnancy with unfavourable cervix remained an unresolved issue advocates of survelliance aim,ed at minimization of unnecessary intervention while advocates of induction aimed at minimization of unnecessary intervention while advocates of introudiuction aimed at minimization perintatal morbidity and mortility and elimination of the psychologic burden imposed on the mother and her physican during the postdate period
