Abstract

The late stage of pregnancy is the most important period through out the gestation for ewes and does. As pregnancy toxemia develop during such period due to a period of undernutrition especially when the animal carry more than one fetus. Pregnancy toxemia is a potentially fatal metabolic disease leading to
severe economic losses. By way or other rapid accurate diagnosis of the disease is essential to expedite treatment and implement control measures, this can done by the help of the metabolic profile test which was done and used as an early warning indicator for sub clinical pregnancy toxernia and as a diagnostic
procedure for clinical case of the disease. The test is based on examining several sample groups of animals and comparing the biochemical status of animals within the subject herd that is in a state of metabolic stress with those that are not. A deviation of stressed group from the normal group is taken as indication of impending disease and for objective assessment of the input-output (nutrient - productivity) relationship. Therefore, this study was planned for diagnosis of pregnancy toxemia before appearance of clinical signs (subclinical cases) to save the time and cost. Our study was carried out on a total number of 320pregnant animals (160 Ewes and 160 Does) aging ( 3-5 years )and weight (35-60 kg Bwt) and planned as the following:- 1 Initial Metabolic profile test: This study was designed to carry out metabolic profile test on 10 Ewes and 10 does clinically healthy which are in the same stage of pregnancy, fed on a balanced ration, followed up during pregnancy (70th - ioo” _120th &135th day). Samples were taken 4 times at theses days.
