Abstract

cattle in Egypt revealed that 74 out of 300 (24.7%) of the imported cattle were found harbouring different gastro-intestinal helminthes while on the other hand 109 out of 300 (36.33%) of the crossbred cattle were founded to infested with gastro-intestinal helminthes (Table, 10).
Related to the age group, imported cattle over 4 years represented the highest level of infestation (26.8%) than 1-2 and 2-3 years old cattle which represented by (26.4%) and (22.4%) respectively, on the other hand, 1-2 years old crossbred cattle represented the highest level of infestation (48.8%) followed by cattle aged over 4 years (32.7%) and lowest level (29%) among 2-3 years old cattle.
Related to the seasons, Autumn season showed the highest level of the imported cattle infested with the diagnostic stages (34%) followed by Summer season (21%) and lowest level in Winter season (19%), while in case of the crossbred cattle, Autumn season also represented the highest level (52%) followed by Winter season (30%) and Summer season (27%).
Related to gastro-intestinal Nematode, infestation rates among imported cattle reach peak in Winter (78.9%) followed by Autumn (3 8.2%) and Summer (38.1%), Nematodes found are Trichostrongylids, Toxocara vitulorum, Lung worm (D. viviparaus) and Strongyloids papillosus.
