Abstract
SUMMARY
Two field experiments were carried out at the Experimental Farm of Rice research and training Center (RRTC), Sakha, Kafr El-Sheikh, Egypt, during the two successive seasons of 2006 and 2007.
The main objective of this investigation was to study the performance of Sakha 101, Giza 178 and hybrid 1 rice cultivars as influenced by three nitrogen levels (55.110 and 165 kg N/ha) and three potassium levels (0, 58 and 116 kg K2O/ha) as far as their vegetative growth, yield and yield components and grain quality.
A split split-plot design with four replications was used the main plots were devoted to rice cultivars, while nitrogen rates were arranged at random in the sub plots and potassium rates were assigned randomly in the sub-sub plots.
The planting date was 10th and 15th May in 2006 and 2007 seasons, respectively. The transplanting was done 30 days after sowing.
The main studied characters were arranged as follow:

2. Dry matter accumulation (gm/m2).
3. Number of tillers/m2.
4. Leaf area index.
5.2. Yield and yield components:
1. Number of panicles/m2.
2. Number of branches/panicle.
3. Filled grain weight/panicle (gm).
4. Filled grains percentage.
5. 1000-grain weight (gm).
6. Grain yield (t/ha).
7. Straw yield (t/ha).
8. Harvest index.

1. Hulling percentage.
