Abstract This work aims: 1- To assess the effects of oxytocin bolus or infusion on maternal homodynamics in the third stage of labour. 2- To compare maternal blood loss in the 3rd stage of labour between oxytocin bolus and infusion. Conclusion: For every woman who wants to keep here health intact and try to pass the process of delivery successfully, the use of bolus dose of oxytocin management of 3rd stage of labour was recommended. For any health organization go to decrease or even prevent the maternal mortality in the childbearing period, this study ask them to illustrate in their protocols in management of 3rd stage of labour the use of bolus oxytocin to prevent the main cause of death in this period which is the postpartum haemorrhage. Although multiple studies in the past show that, bolus dose of oxytocin causes many problems as an expectant hypotension and arrhythmia. In this current study the use of bolus dose of oxytocin not causes these problems. Bolus oxytocin of 10 IU is not associated with adverse homodynamic response and can safely be administrated to women with direct intravenous access in the third stage of labour for postpartum haemorrhage prophylaxis. |
