Abstract The work presented in this thesis represents a phytochemical investigation of amaryllis belladonna l.(hippeastrum equestre herb ) and aphytochemical screening of the plant narcissus cv.ice follies. This thesis consists of four parts :part Iphytochemical investigation of the alkoloidal content of amaryllis belladonna l: (hippeastrum equestre herb)is cultivated ornamental plant.reviewing the current literature no reports were noted concerning the alkolods of Egyptian a. belladonna l.this part includes the chromatographic screening of the different organs of the plant for their alkaloidal content at two stages of growth (preflowering and flowering stages) .this investigation resulted in the isolationof six crystalline alkaloids (pancracine, hippeastrine, vittatine and 11-hydroxyvittatine and a new alkaloid named amarbellisine) from the chloroform extract of the bulbs of the flowering stage and an additional alkaloid + 8-0-demethylmartitidine) was isolated from the chloroform extract of the bulbs of the flowering stage in addition to he well-known lycorine(obtained in very large amount in both stages). |
