Abstract
In dairy cows, the postpartum period constitutes an important period in the reproductive life of the animals, because of its critical influence up on subsequent fertility. Therefore, the early resumption of postpartum reproductive activity and the efficient detection of estrus in dairy cows are important factors to obtain high fertilityA total of Fifty Holstein Friesian cows their age ranged from 2.5 to 8.5 years and parity (1 to 6) belonging to private farm at Sharkia governate, Egypt were examined for evaluation of pp uterine involution and ovarian cyclicity both rectally and ultrasonographically. These cows were divided according to the nature of parturition in to two groups. The first group include 41 normal parturient cows and the second include 9 abnormal parturient cows. The cows in both groups were subdivided according to their parity and milk production. Moreover, the two groups are simultaneously received prophylactic dose of PGF2α (Estrumate 2 ml intramuscular) and oxytocin (40 IU intramuscular) directly after parturition as routine measure in the farm. .
