Abstract Addition of cholesterol may increase or decrease the entrapment efficiency of the prepared niosomes, depending on method of preparation and structure of surfactant used. 2- Span 60 formulations showed higher entrapment efficiency and higher release of drug. 3- Particle size distribution studies revealed that formulations prepared without cholesterol, showed the smallest particle size. However, increased particle size was obtained by increasing cholesterol molar ratio, using FHM and in formulations prepared using Span 60. 4- Most niosomal formulations showed lower permeation rate compared to drug solution, except formulations 3A, 3B and 8B which correspond to the 1:1 cholesterol surfactant molar ratio. 5- Corneal hydration studies showed . |
