Abstract Nigella sativa L. belongs to the Ranunculaceae family is known as black seed. Crude and purified components of Nigella sativa L. are known for having several beneficial and pharmacological effects. In our study we aimed to evaluate the following: 1-Isolation and identification of certain chemical components of Nigella sativa L. seeds, by using different chromatography and physicochemical methods. 2-Examination of the biological activities and studies its toxicity. 3-Studying the effect of Nigella sativa L. seeds on isolated rat hepatocytes by measuring the effect on ALT, AST and Al.ph. enzymes. 4- Measuring the effect on the glutathione content in isolated hepatocytes. |
