Abstract Aim of the work To evaluate the role of color flow Doppler & duplex ultrasonography in assessment of patients with liver cirrhosis. Conclusion 1- Doppler ultrasonography be detecting homodynamic changes of the portal venous system and hepatic artery is a useful safe non-invasive modality in the assessment of cirrhotic patients as well as in the diagnosis of portal hypertension and degree of liver affection. 2- In diagnosis of portal hypertension: a lower portal and splenic vein velocity is a more reliable sonographic finding. 3- Also the lower the portal vein velocity, the more degree of modified child score. 4- Different haemodynamic parameters of the portal vein have no correlation with the degree of oesophageal varices detected by endoscopy thus the predictive value and prognostic role of Doppler is questionable. |
